Hi friends! How are you all? I pray that Jesus is working in your lives and hearts every day. I’ve been so blessed with many new subscribers recently, so if you are new here, welcome! When reading Around the Coffee Table, you’ve got to try and muster that cosy feeling when drinking a hot drink, cuddling up on a sofa, and catching up with your friends. Jesus is there as well, guiding us along.
I have been mind-blown by the support I received here regarding my job hunt and upcoming interview. I posted a note about it a few days ago and have felt so blessed to have so many wonderful people showing their kindness, time and prayers.
The job hunt has been challenging because I am moving industries. I’m going from Stage Management, something I have a degree based around, to the world of Publishing, which I know nothing about. Thousands of people apply, but only one can get the job, so AI is used to whittle it all down, and the likelihood of my application being read by a human is probably slim to none. I’ve, therefore, felt invisible, like my applications are being sent into the void. I’m being proactive and beginning to study Publishing and gain some credibility, which I am excited about! Your support and love have been nothing less than Christ-like throughout this journey. So, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to you all. It has meant the world and helped me stay out of the grip of anxiety and worry.
The Easter Holidays are upon us, so in two weeks, I’ll release an extra special, ‘Around the Coffee Table,’ dedicated to the miracle of Easter: Jesus dying and resurrecting—the moment when all our lives changed for good. Our slates could be wiped clean when the penalty for our sins was paid. Last Christmas, I released a special post called ‘Away in the Manger’ to explore the monumental event of Jesus being born. It’s only right that we appreciate the transformative moment when Jesus saved us from death.
The schools have broken up… some earlier than others… (private schools 🙄)—and the sun is shining! It’s mad how quickly you lose track of the days when your child (stepchild, in my case) has broken up from school. Is it Saturday, Tuesday, Friday, or Monday? WHO KNOWS. I’m just going with the flow and enjoying God’s blessings/procrastinating the growing list of things to do. I’ve created a schedule for myself, which will help me stay on top of things…
As part of my procrastination, I spent too much time doing this. Whoops. At any given point in the week, when you’re reading my posts and wonder what I am doing… you now have my schedule! 😆. On weekends, I read other people’s posts, reply to people, and REST.
I often feel like writing is a full-time job, applying for jobs feels like a full-time job, and looking after the house feels like a full-time job. Who else feels like they’re doing multiple full-time jobs?! I have a purpose in doing all of this, though. God has put me here to fulfil His purpose, and I am so blessed to be busy. God created and designed us for work.
“15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” - Genesis 2:15 (NKJV)
We should try to ditch the mindset that our lives are just made up of working hard to ‘survive’ and instead nurture the mentality of:
We work because God made us for it.
Work is holy—God created it.
Hard work is part of God’s plan.
We work to live out God’s purpose.
We work to worship our Creator.
It can be challenging, but it is not impossible. God would never put the impossible in front of you, and we are restored through our Sabbath rest. God worked and then rested, so we work and then rest. For every hard thing, there are eternal blessings.
I went for my first picnic of the year last week with my family. There’s a beautiful park called Hyland’s Park near where I live, so we packed some food, brought a picnic rug and a ball, and off we went. We finished it off nicely with an ice cream, which was YUM. It was so refreshing and relaxing… my freckles also started coming out in the sun! I always look forward to that happening.
I also brought some fudge after a pottery painting session the other day. I’ll get onto fudge in a minute because it needs to be a whole section. The pottery painting was brilliant! My stepdaughter did it, and we did foam clay instead of paint so she could take it home the same day. Foam clay is so weird, but it was a lot of fun. The end results were very in tune with the works of a 4-year-old girl:
I think she smashed it :))
THE FUDGE! Yum. Just yum. Creme egg fudge… it was delectable. It got demolished far too quickly, but I have no regrets. Fudge is a rare treat. I can’t have it in the house because self-control is a Fruit of the Spirit, and I don’t know how much I can honour that if I know there’s fudge in the cupboard. It’s best to be safe. When I have fudge, it must be the proper home-made crumbly fudge. None of that store brought chewy stuff. Who agrees?! I am also really hungry right now, so I need to stop talking about fudge.
I’ve told myself I am not allowed to eat until I have published this, so if you’re reading this within 30 minutes of it being released, I will be eating and thoroughly enjoying myself.
On that note… I’m off! Thanks so much for reading, and keep your eyes peeled on Wednesday for the last post in the ‘Influential Characters’ series! See you there. God bless,

Even, as you say, only A.I. reads your application, but rest assured, Sister, as you are a daughter of God, He reads it, and He is the one who will ensure your application ends up in the rights hands and mind who have real-intelligence; because our God the Father is looking upon you more than the sparrow - please believe this in faith, and please don't let subtle messages of our non-faith leak into our writing, like saying things like, "The chances of any one other than A.I. reading it, is the slimest......"
