Hi friends, and welcome back to another ‘Around The Coffee Table’ Monday!
I hope you’re all feeling happy and healthy. If things are holding you back, I pray that Christ renews your spirit and takes your burdens.
Well, it’s been 2 weeks since my last coffee table post, mainly because there wasn’t much to write about, and I don’t want to keep repeating myself!
I’m still waiting for a job. I got a rejection email yesterday🥲. Whenever I hear an email ping up on my phone, I become a meerkat—poised and eager. In the meantime, I’m still waiting, praying, and being patient.
I was in a car wash the other day, one of those automated ones with the GIANT rolling sponges that look like they have a mind of their own. I was reminiscing about how I must have felt as a small child…
I definitely would have felt fear.
I have a very clear memory of going through one of those for the first time. I don’t remember how old I was, but I was little. I was with my grandparents, and my Nana whipped out some creme eggs for me and my sister. Legend.
I remember feeling quite scared about the car wash but equally distracted with my creme egg at the same time.
It’s pretty scary sitting in a car with those great big things hitting the windows and doors, paired with the noise that they make.
To make matters worse, all these strips of multi-coloured lights started flashing away… not pleasant on the eyes… or the nervous system.
I watched the water fall onto the windshield, dancing mindlessly on the slippery surface and then suddenly being blown away into oblivion as the dryers finished the job.
I had this revelation as I watched this happen. Other writers, I’m sure you can relate to this… you get this wave of creativity over a mundane thing. A writing idea miraculously pops into your head, and you scramble to grab a notepad, pen, or phone to note it quickly.
That was me at the car wash.
I saw those water droplets as the sin that comes in to taint us. We can quickly think that it’s there to make us feel better. To clean us? Whatever the devil tries feeding your mind with.
BUT…
What happens when water stays on a window or glass? Watermarks. That’s how our showers can get so dirty if we don’t take time to wipe away the water: watermarks and limescale.
The air started blowing on the car, and the water droplets vanished. They SCARPERED. Ceased to exist. Enter Christ.
Christ comes gently into our hearts but hits the sin like a hurricane. The marks of that sin are blown away, wiped clean, forgotten, and forgiven.
The slate is new; you are ready to enter this world as a new creation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
You can imagine my excitement when this was revealed to me from something as mundane as a car wash.
God is so good!
On a TOTALLY different note:
I have started using an app called ‘Endel’. I’ve shared the link below…
Try Endel with this free code!
14 days of science-backed sounds to help you focus, relax, and sleep.
I started using it to help me focus, and I can’t express how beneficial it is… my focus has gone through the roof. I use it to promote deeper, healthier sleep as well, and it really works. It’s like magic. Well worth the money. I am a happy customer :)
Anyway, I am off to do more writing. I’m currently working on Series 4. It’s going to be a good one!
I’ll be back on Wednesday with the next post in the ‘Influential Characters’ series.
Have a great week, friends. God bless,
Thank you for posting today. I enjoy reading your posts. I'm praying that His will be done as far as the job goes but in the meantime keep writing, keep inspiring us with the mundane things turned spiritual. Love the car wash analogy and will never enter one again without this popping into my brain.
