Hello, and welcome to this week’s devotional. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, take a minute and breathe. Breathe in the Holy Spirit and exhale the world. Jesus longs to meet with you and hear your voice. Let Him fill you with His perfect love and peace as we dive into this week’s passage.
ALL THOSE WHO ARE WEARY. Where do we turn?
‘All those who are weary, I see your troubles and know you need rest. Turn to me and lay down in green pastures. Rest your head and your tired legs. Take those burdens off your shoulders and set them down at my feet. They are not yours to carry; only mine and my strength are sufficient. This world is not for you to walk alone but with me. Rest in my embrace, for it is gentle and forgiving. It is easy and humble, and you will be revived. All those who are weary, I can see your pain. My child, don’t you know I do not intend such misery for you? No, I only want the best for you, so let your troubled mind be at ease. Let me remove your constraints and be free. Be free from the distress this world sinks in and float in the ocean of my eternal rest. Turn to my love and close your eyes, for I am holding you and will never let you go. Turn to me, and I will make your path straight. I will clear the fog and shine brightly on you. Your weariness is a fleeting moment in the transcendent rest I have planned for you.’
“²⁸ Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30
Reflection
When you feel weary, what is your ‘go-to’ to make you feel better?
Can you remember a distressing moment when Jesus swept in and gave you rest?
