Hi friends! I hope everyone is doing well today!
I meant to release this yesterday, but I ran out of time! Here is a belated Around the Coffee Table Monday…
What a weekend! Yesterday was Mother’s Day in the UK, AND my mum’s birthday was - double whammy. My sister and I had been planning this weekend for ages, making sure we had a great present and a fun day planned. The present was a GIANT photo book of pictures of my sister and me from 2003 to 2025. My mum loved it; it was very special. We made her breakfast, had cake, took her to pottery painting, and went for a Sunday roast at a beautiful little pub by a reservoir. We finished the day with a film and snacks. It was perfect.
Yesterday, I also experienced a first. It was my first Mother’s Day being honoured as a stepmom. It was very special and made all the tough times in raising a child worth it. My stepdaughter left for school this morning, and I told her I love her. She responded with
‘I love you too!’
She’s only 4 years old! It was wonderful.
My mum and I went to see a show in London on Saturday. I love the theatre, so I was very excited. The excitement quickly faded when we realised what the show was about… It’s too explicit and, frankly, way too sinful to mention here. We left in the interval. Staying would have felt like we were condoning something we, as Christians, fundamentally do not believe in.
We must stand up for what we believe in, even if we are the only ones doing it.
My house kind of blew up this morning—mess-wise!! It felt like every room had exploded, and laundry was coming from my ears. I spent the morning sorting it out and listing loads of clothes on Vinted. Being back in an organised, clean home was extremely therapeutic and nice.
Who else finds those spring cleaning days really uplifting?
On a more serious note… I have a 7.5-hour video to watch on genetics and the mark of the beast. You read that right. 7.5 hours. I’m going to watch sections at a time. I’m very excited about it, and it’s super important stuff that isn’t taught enough. I may try and write about it in due course… it’s so important, but often too complicated for us to fully grasp, so we just let it slide. I’m going to try really hard to centre my attention on understanding it and it’s crucial message. If anyone would like the video, please message me with your email address, and I can WeTransfer it to you!
On a totally unrelated note… I want to start making some different dinners as well. Something cheap, healthy and yummy. Please let me know if anyone has any meal ideas! I would be so grateful. I never really liked cooking, but I have come full circle now. I find it so fulfilling to nourish my family with yummy meals. I get so much satisfaction from planning dinners and taking the time to present it nicely as well. I’ve been doing a sweet potato, feta and pomegranate salad recently… game changer.
I am so thankful to God for sustaining me through this period of having no income. I still feel abundantly blessed, and thoroughly enjoying this sabbath rest period. I’m still desperately praying for a job. There is still no news on all the jobs I have applied for. It’s a serious waiting game. It has taken the strength that God alone has given me, not to go crazy! But, I continue to pray and enjoy the blessings I do have.
I hope everyone has a superb week. Keep leaning on Jesus. He will sustain you. Keep an eye on your inbox tomorrow for the third post in the ‘Influential Characters’ series! See you then. God bless,

Lovely to read your update, and well done for taking a stand, especially in a theatre context, which you enjoy so much.
Emily, this is lovely! I’m so proud of you, my precious daughter. God has blessed you and will continue to pour his blessings on you forevermore, as you endeavour to serve him.
You and your sister made Mother’s Day and my birthday so special and I’m so grateful for you both. You are both, indeed, a gift from God to me.
May God grant you wisdom and patience as you trust in him for finding a job. He already knows and his timing will be perfect. Keep leaning into the One who is our Jehovah Jireh 🙏🏻
Love you bubba xxx
